The Role

A specialist education technology provider is seeking a Network Manager to lead IT services within a secondary school environment. The Network Manager will take ownership of the school’s infrastructure, systems, and day-to-day IT operations, while working closely with leadership and an on-site technician to deliver a high-quality service. This Network Manager role is ideal for a hands-on professional who enjoys combining technical delivery with stakeholder engagement and team leadership.

Perm | £40,000 – £42,000 DOE | Buckinghamshire

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain the school’s IT infrastructure including servers, networks, cloud services, and security systems
• Act as the primary on-site IT lead, supporting staff and senior leadership with technical solutions and strategy
• Oversee and support an on-site IT technician, including task delegation and mentoring
• Ensure all incidents and requests are managed effectively, meeting agreed SLAs and maintaining high service standards
• Administer core systems including Active Directory, Group Policy, virtualisation platforms, and backup solutions
• Liaise with third-party suppliers and escalate issues where required, ensuring timely resolution
• Maintain accurate documentation of systems, processes, and support activity
• Contribute to IT development plans and continuous improvement of the school’s technology environment

Person Specification

• Proven experience as a Network Manager or in a similar senior IT support role within education
• Strong technical knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and networking
• Experience supporting and managing school IT environments and infrastructure
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across desktop, server, and network technologies
• Ability to manage workload effectively and meet SLAs in a busy environment
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to support both technical and non-technical users
