20 Sep Education Business Development Manager
Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced education sales professional to join a well established software business operating across the education sector.
Location: Midlands
Working pattern: Flexible, with travel to customer meetings and the Midlands office as required
Salary: £60k OTE
Type: Permanent
This is a growth focused role for someone who enjoys developing new business, building relationships across Multi Academy Trusts and larger education groups, and identifying opportunities to expand existing customer relationships.
The business already benefits from a strong flow of incoming opportunities, alongside significant potential within its existing customer base. A number of current customers sit within wider Trusts and education groups, creating genuine opportunities to build relationships at group level and develop larger, strategic accounts.
About the role
You will take ownership of developing new business across the UK education market, working with schools, Multi Academy Trusts, education groups and other multi site organisations.
The role combines proactive business development with consultative selling. You will identify new opportunities, engage with key decision makers, understand customer requirements and manage opportunities through the full sales process.
You will also work closely with existing internal teams to identify where individual customer relationships can be developed into wider group level opportunities.
Key responsibilities
- Develop new business opportunities across schools, Multi Academy Trusts and larger education groups
- Build relationships with senior decision makers, budget holders and other key stakeholders
- Identify opportunities within the existing customer base where individual school accounts belong to wider Trusts or groups
- Manage the full sales cycle from initial engagement and discovery through to proposal, negotiation and close
- Develop a strong and sustainable pipeline of new business opportunities
- Respond to and develop incoming sales opportunities alongside your own prospecting activity
- Create commercially focused proposals tailored to customer requirements
- Maintain accurate pipeline, activity and forecasting information within the CRM
- Work collaboratively with marketing, customer success and internal subject matter experts
- Attend customer meetings, industry events and relevant sector networking opportunities
About you
We are looking for someone with a strong background in education sales and a proven ability to develop new business.
You are likely to have experience within EdTech, SaaS, education software, education services or a closely related sector.
You should be able to demonstrate:
- Experience selling into schools, Multi Academy Trusts or larger education groups
- A strong track record of winning new B2B business
- Experience managing a complete sales cycle
- The ability to engage confidently with senior decision makers and multiple stakeholders
- A consultative approach to sales rather than purely transactional selling
- Strong pipeline management and forecasting skills
- Experience working with CRM systems
- Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills
Experience selling into local authorities, public sector organisations or other multi site customers would also be advantageous.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced education sales professional to join a growing organisation with an established customer base, strong incoming opportunity and considerable scope to develop larger strategic accounts.
