The Role:

As an HR Manager, you will:

  • Recruitment: Manage the entire recruitment process for both Junior and Senior Schools, including advertising, handling applications, arranging interviews, and communicating with candidates.
  • Single Central Record (SCR): Maintain the SCR in compliance with regulations, ensuring accurate and up-to-date documentation for all staff.
  • Payroll: Prepare and input payroll adjustments, produce salary letters, and handle staff payroll queries.
  • Staff Records: Oversee staff induction, maintain accurate records, manage contracts, and handle maternity/paternity leave.
  • HR Guidance & Procedures: Provide HR support, manage employee absences, and assist with policy updates.
  • Management Responsibilities: Line manage the Compliance and Welfare Officer, ensuring regulatory compliance and staff training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of recruitment and onboarding for both teaching and non-teaching staff.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding regulations and maintain accurate personnel files.
  • Handle payroll processing and staff queries with precision.
  • Provide HR guidance and support, ensuring adherence to best practices and legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and contribute to policy development.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities, with sensitivity, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Organisational Skills: Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with sound judgement and decision-making abilities.
  • Confidentiality: A thorough understanding of confidentiality and discretion.
  • IT Proficiency: Confident in using HR systems and Microsoft applications (Word, Excel).
  • Numeracy Skills: Ability to manage statistical data and payroll.

Knowledge Base:

  • Up-to-date knowledge of HR practices and UK employment legislation.
  • Comprehensive understanding of safeguarding issues and health and safety policies.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • CIPD qualified or equivalent by experience.
  • Experience in an educational setting is desirable.
  • Proven experience handling sensitive HR issues with integrity.
