We are seeking a dynamic and experienced IT Network Manager to lead the network infrastructure at a secondary school in North London. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing management of the school's network systems, ensuring secure and efficient operations. You will oversee a team of IT professionals, troubleshoot network issues, and lead projects to enhance network capabilities.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network administration, with experience in managing teams and delivering projects in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Design and Implementation:
- Design and deploy network solutions to meet the school's operational and educational needs.
- Maintain and optimize the network infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
Network Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Proactively monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime.
- Implement redundancy and failover systems to ensure continuous network operation.
Security Management:
- Develop and enforce network security policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular security audits and maintain firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion prevention systems.
Team Management:
- Lead and mentor a team of IT professionals.
- Provide training, performance feedback, and career development opportunities.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and procedures.
- Report on network performance and project progress to senior management.
Vendor and Budget Management:
- Manage relationships with vendors and service providers.
- Oversee network-related budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
Project Management:
- Lead network upgrade projects, ensuring timely completion within budget.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2-3 years of experience in network administration.
- Proven leadership in managing technical teams.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE, CompTIA Network+) are highly desirable.
Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Experience with Windows Server, Microsoft Intune, and Google Workspace.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Technical Expertise:
- Experience with Windows 10/11, Hyper-V, and network switching/routing.
- Knowledge of security practices, including firewalls and VPNs.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and Google Workspace.
