We are partnering with a dynamic and forward-thinking school in London to recruit an experienced IT Support Engineer to join their team on a 6-month fixed term contract. This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on IT professional to support and maintain a range of technology systems within a thriving educational environment.
IT Support Engineer (2nd Line) - 6-Month Fixed Term
Location: Kew-Hammersmith area, West London
Salary: Up to £36,000 Pro Rata
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing day-to-day support for the school’s IT infrastructure, ensuring that all systems, devices, and networks are operating seamlessly to enhance teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide first and second-line IT support across four school sites, including hardware and software troubleshooting and resolution.
- Manage and maintain end-user devices (MacOS, iPad OS, Chromebooks, Windows 11) and classroom AV systems (interactive whiteboards, projectors, printers).
- Oversee network infrastructure, switches, firewalls, and domain controllers to ensure a smooth and secure operation.
- Administer Google Workspace for Education, ensuring all systems are configured correctly and efficiently.
- Assist with IT security policies, system backups, and user data management.
- Provide training and guidance to staff and students on the use of IT systems and software.
- Handle IT procurement and liaise with third-party suppliers for cost-effective solutions.
- Collaborate with the broader IT team, including third-line support, to resolve escalated issues and support IT strategy.
Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as a Level 2 IT Engineer or System Administrator, ideally within the education sector.
- Strong knowledge of managing MacOS and iPad devices, particularly using JAMF School and Google Workspace administration.
- Experience supporting a variety of hardware, including laptops, tablets, and desktops, as well as AV and network devices.
- Familiarity with TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, VPNs, and network management tools.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently across multiple locations.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide effective training and support to end-users.
