Description

We’re looking for a proactive and customer-focused IT Support Technician to join a busy school IT team. This is a hands-on role where you’ll provide high-quality 1st and 2nd line support, maintain a wide range of IT systems, and help ensure that technology continues to play a vital role across teaching, learning, and school operations.

Location: North London
Permanent, Full-Time (37.5 hours per week)
Salary: £26,000 – £29,000  (depending on experience)

Working closely with the IT Manager and wider IT Services team, you’ll be responsible for resolving technical issues, managing helpdesk queries, and supporting school-wide technology — from Windows and Apple devices to AV equipment, networking, and cloud platforms.

About the Role

  • Provide 1st and 2nd line IT support to staff and students, ensuring all incidents are logged, monitored, and resolved in line with agreed SLAs.
  • Support and maintain hardware including PCs, laptops, Macs, mobile devices, printers, photocopiers, and AV equipment.
  • Assist with user account management in Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and Intune.
  • Set up and configure new hardware, decommission old equipment, and manage digital signage and laptop bookings.
  • Troubleshoot and support networking infrastructure including cabling, wireless connectivity, DNS, DHCP, and telephony.
  • Provide AV setup and technical support at assemblies, school events, and presentations.
  • Maintain accurate asset registers and ensure all software, licences, and security patches are up to date.
  • Promote the effective and creative use of technology across the curriculum.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience in a similar IT support role, ideally within an education environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Windows, Microsoft 365, Intune, and Apple iOS in a networked environment.
  • Experience with a wide range of hardware, mobile devices, printers, AV, and networking fundamentals.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a proactive, customer-focused approach.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
  • A positive and flexible team player, willing to adapt to changing priorities and occasional out-of-hours support when needed.
  • Desirable: knowledge of ITIL processes, ticket management systems, and cloud platforms such as Azure.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary of up to £29,000 (depending on experience).
  • Full-time permanent role (37.5 hours per week, 8am – 4.30pm, all year round).
  • Opportunity to work across a wide range of technologies in a supportive school environment.
  • Professional development and training opportunities.

Safeguarding: This role requires an Enhanced DBS check and full adherence to safeguarding and child protection policies. Applications are welcome from all suitably qualified candidates regardless of background.
