Oxfordshire IT Company is seeking a proactive and skilled IT Technician to join our team in Bedford. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, capable of working effectively both independently and as part of a team. As part of this role, you will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS Check.

Role Overview:

The IT Technician will play a key role in supporting the trust’s educational ICT systems. Your responsibilities will include providing hands-on technical support, diagnosing, and resolving daily ICT issues, and maintaining the IT infrastructure. This includes tasks such as server management, resolving device and printer issues, managing projector and whiteboard setups, rebuilding PCs, and more. You will collaborate closely with the central support team, handling technical escalations across all sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day technical support for the school’s IT infrastructure, including basic network troubleshooting, resolving cabling issues, and monitoring network health.
  • Assist with routine server maintenance and updates, including basic configuration changes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues on desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.
  • Perform PC and device setups, installations, and rebuilds, including basic imaging and deployment.
  • Support end-users with issues related to Windows Operating Systems (Windows 10 & 11), Microsoft Office 365, and other common applications.
  • Manage user accounts, including password resets and permissions management in Active Directory and Office 365.
  • Provide clear and friendly communication to non-technical users and maintain regular updates to Senior Management.
  • Assist with the maintenance and monitoring of the school's backup systems.

Technical Skills Required:

  • Basic experience with Microsoft Windows Server (2016-2022) and familiarity with key services (e.g., DHCP, DNS).
  • Experience in supporting and troubleshooting Windows Operating Systems (Windows 10 & 11).
  • Basic knowledge of Office 365 administration, including user management and email configuration.
  • Experience with desktop and laptop hardware troubleshooting, including printers and other peripherals.
  • Familiarity with basic networking concepts, such as IP addressing and device connectivity.
  • Experience with remote support tools and techniques for resolving user issues.
  • Basic understanding of Active Directory for user account management.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical staff and students.
  • Prior experience in an educational environment is a plus.
  • Self-motivated with a can-do attitude and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Good time management and the ability to work independently when required.
