A successful and growing EdTech company based in Harrow is seeking an experienced Ruby on Rails Developer to join their software development team.

The organisation develops proprietary learning platforms used by schools and students and is continuing to invest in its technology as the platform grows.

This role is ideal for a full stack developer with strong Ruby on Rails experience who enjoys working in a small agile team and contributing to the full software development lifecycle.

Due to the complexity of the systems and the need to collaborate closely with business stakeholders, the role is primarily office based.

Location: Harrow, London
Salary: Up to £85,000 depending on experience – Possible flexibility
Type: Permanent preferred, contract also considered

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain applications using Ruby on Rails and JavaScript
  • Design scalable full stack solutions across multiple projects
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to build new product features
  • Support and improve existing applications and infrastructure
  • Collaborate with overseas development teams
  • Maintain coding standards and participate in code reviews
  • Support testing, deployment and ongoing optimisation of the platform

Skills and Experience

• 5+ years experience in software development
  • Strong commercial experience with Ruby on Rails
  • Experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, JQuery or Angular
  • Experience working in UNIX environments
  • Strong experience with MySQL databases
  • Experience with NGINX, Apache, Elasticsearch or Redis
  • Experience building or supporting AWS cloud infrastructure
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines such as Bitbucket and CircleCI
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills

• Salary up to £85,000 depending on experience
