Are you an experienced IT professional seeking a rewarding and family-friendly opportunity in the education sector? We are supporting a highly regarded academy in Barnet, North London, in their search for a Senior IT Engineer to lead and support the delivery of IT services across the school.
This is an excellent role for someone looking to balance career progression with family life, offering term-time plus up to 4 weeks working arrangement, a 37.5-hour working week, and a competitive salary of up to £35,000 pro-rata, along with excellent benefits including the Local Government Pension Scheme.
About the Role
As the Senior IT Engineer, you will play a key role in managing and improving the academy’s IT services to support both teaching and administrative functions. You’ll provide second-line technical support, lead IT staff on-site, and contribute to the continuous improvement and innovation of the school’s IT systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and support IT services across the academy
- Provide second-line support and resolve complex technical issues
- Lead and mentor on-site IT technicians
- Maintain the school’s IT estate, including servers, networks, software, and security systems
- Support staff, pupils and visitors with IT-related queries and training
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding and data protection policies
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in Windows Server environments and M365 administration
- Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP
- Excellent diagnostic, organisational, and communication skills
- A genuine passion for technology and continuous improvement
- Ideally, experience in an education setting and familiarity with ITIL practices
Desirable (but not essential)
- Experience with Apple School Manager, iOS/macOS, virtualisation platforms, or SaaS/PaaS/IaaS models
- Exposure to Mobile Device Management tools such as Jamf or Mosyle
