We are looking for a confident and customer-focused 2nd Line Support Engineer to join a growing IT services team supporting clients across Doncaster and the surrounding area. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced 2nd Line Support Engineer who enjoys a mix of on-site and remote support, working directly with users and taking ownership of technical issues.
As a 2nd Line Support Engineer, you will be the go-to on-site contact for customers, providing hands-on support across a range of IT systems and environments. You will manage your own schedule, build strong relationships with users, and ensure a high level of service delivery while being supported by a wider team of senior engineers and service desk colleagues.
This role offers a great mix of autonomy, variety and customer interaction, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working across multiple environments and solving problems face-to-face.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide on-site IT support to customers across Doncaster and surrounding areas
- Deliver 2nd line support across hardware, software and infrastructure issue
- Act as the primary on-site IT contact for customers during site visit
- Log, update and manage support tickets ensuring accurate documentation
- Provide regular updates to users on progress and resolution of issues
Troubleshoot Windows devices, laptops, printers and peripheral equipment - Support Microsoft environments including Office 365, Active Directory and Group Policy
- Assist with device setup, imaging and software installations
- Support networking basics including WiFi, switches and patching
- Carry out routine IT checks including backups and system monitoring
- Escalate complex issues to 3rd line engineers where required
- Support both on-site and remote users when not attending customer locations
Skills / Experience Required
- Proven experience working as a 2nd Line Support Engineer or similar rol
- Strong troubleshooting skills across Windows 10/11, hardware and end-user devices
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365 and Office applications
- Working knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy
- Experience supporting printers, peripherals and user environments
- Basic networking knowledge including WiFi and switches
- Experience working in a field-based or MSP environment or supporting multiple sites
- Strong communication and customer-facing skill
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
