2nd Line Support Engineer – Education Sector
A well-established Multi-Academy Trust is seeking a 2nd Line Support Engineer to support and maintain IT services across its schools. This 2nd Line Support Engineer role combines hands-on technical support with service desk oversight and team coordination, ensuring reliable IT systems that support teaching and learning.
As a 2nd Line Support Engineer, you will act as an escalation point for technical issues while overseeing service desk activity and supporting infrastructure across multiple sites. This Senior IT Technician position is ideal for someone looking to step into a more senior, service-led role within education IT.
Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum DOE | Type: Permanent | Location: North London
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee IT service desk operations and ticket allocation
- Act as escalation point for complex technical issues
- Provide 1st/2nd line support across users, devices and systems
- Support Windows Server, Active Directory, networking and infrastructure
- Maintain IT systems, ensuring performance, security and reliability
- Coordinate IT support for exams, events and key school activities
- Support and mentor junior technicians
- Assist with IT projects, deployments and system improvements
Person Specification
- Experience in a 2nd Line Support Engineer or similar Senior IT support role
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory and networking
- Experience working within an education or school environment
- Experience supporting service desk environments and ticketing systems
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
