GreatFind Recruitment is proud to be working exclusively on a new role for the prestigious independent education provider MPW London (Mander Portman Woodward) who are now seeking an Operations & Deputy Head of IT to lead on infrastructure, security, and operational excellence across their multi-site environment.
Location: South Kensington, London with occasional travel to Birmingham and Cambridge sites (travel expenses reimbursed)
Salary: £60,000 – £70,000 DOE
Contract: Full-time, 40 hours per week / Permanent

The Operations & Deputy Head of IT will act as a key deputy to the Head of IT, combining hands-on technical leadership with strategic oversight to ensure systems effectively support teaching, learning, and business operations. This Operations & Deputy Head of IT role offers the opportunity to shape the future technology landscape within a highly respected and well-established organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee core IT infrastructure including servers, networks, cloud platforms, and security systems across multiple sites
- Act as the senior escalation point for critical incidents, ensuring high availability, resilience, and performance
- Own and manage Microsoft 365 and Entra ID environments, including identity and device strategy (Intune)
- Drive cloud migration, infrastructure modernisation, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain a strong cybersecurity posture including endpoint protection, patching, monitoring, and disaster recovery
- Manage third-party suppliers and ensure reliable connectivity across campuses
- Lead key IT projects including cloud transitions, network refresh programmes, and security enhancements
- Provide leadership and mentoring to IT staff while deputising for the Head of IT when required
Person Specification
- Proven experience in a senior IT infrastructure or operations leadership role
- Strong technical expertise across Microsoft 365, Azure/Entra ID, Windows Server, and networking
- Experience managing multi-site environments and complex IT operations
- Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles, risk management, and system resilience
- Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver complex technical projects
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage senior stakeholders
