A well-established secondary school in South West London is seeking an Head of IT to take strategic and operational ownership of its IT services, infrastructure, and digital learning environment. The Head of IT will play a pivotal role in shaping the school’s technology strategy, driving innovation, and ensuring robust, secure, and reliable systems that support teaching, learning, safeguarding, and school operations. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the strategic development and delivery of the school’s IT infrastructure and digital learning environment
• Manage and maintain all IT systems including networks, servers, cloud services, and software platforms (including Microsoft 365)
• Oversee day-to-day IT operations, ensuring reliable and efficient service across the school
• Act as Privacy and Compliance Officer, ensuring GDPR, data protection, and cybersecurity compliance
• Lead IT projects including system upgrades, digital transformation, and infrastructure improvements
• Manage and develop the IT team, including recruitment, performance, and training
• Work closely with SLT to align IT strategy with wider school improvement priorities
• Oversee IT security, safeguarding systems, and disaster recovery planning
• Manage IT budgets, procurement, and supplier relationships
• Provide staff training and promote effective use of technology across teaching and learning

Person Specification

Essential

• Proven experience in a senior IT leadership role, ideally within a school or education setting
• Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure including networks, servers, cloud services, and cybersecurity
• Experience managing Microsoft 365 environments (including Entra, Intune, Windows Server)
• Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills
• Understanding of data protection (UK GDPR) and safeguarding requirements in education
• Ability to lead, manage, and develop technical teams
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to support both technical and non-technical users
