Description
An established education organisation in Clapham is looking for an experienced IT Manager to take ownership of its day to day IT service, infrastructure and technology roadmap.
This is a hands on leadership role, combining technical support, infrastructure management, project delivery and team management. You will lead the onsite IT function, work closely with external technology partners and help shape the future direction of IT across the organisation.
There is also strong potential for the role to develop into a wider multi site leadership position as the organisation continues to evolve.
You will be responsible for the performance, security and development of the organisation’s IT environment, while supporting staff and users across several nearby buildings.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the onsite IT service and managing an IT Engineer
- Managing Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory and Microsoft Intune
- Supporting Windows, macOS and mobile devices
- Managing networks including switches, wireless access points, firewalls, VLANs, DNS and DHCP
- Overseeing cyber security, access control and data protection
- Managing external IT suppliers and support providers
- Taking ownership of IT projects from planning through to delivery
- Managing IT budgets, procurement, licensing and contracts
- Maintaining asset registers and technical documentation
- Supporting classroom technology, AV and business critical systems
- Developing IT processes and service standards
- Supporting future standardisation across multiple locations
We are looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience as an IT Manager, Network Manager, Infrastructure Manager or Senior IT Engineer with leadership responsibility
- Strong hands on technical experience across Microsoft technologies
- Good knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory and Intune
- Strong networking and infrastructure knowledge
- Experience managing IT staff and setting priorities
- Experience managing suppliers, budgets and procurement
- Strong project management and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non technical users
- A proactive and service focused approach
Experience within education would be advantageous, although strong candidates from other sectors will also be considered.
