We are looking for a senior, hands-on Senior Technical Engineer to join a growing IT services business, delivering complex projects across multiple client environments. This role is ideal for a 3rd line engineer or a school IT / Network Manager seeking a client-focused, project-driven position. After an initial onboarding period in the office, flexible hybrid working is supported with 1–3 days from home.

£45,000–55,000 | Surrey / Hybrid | Permanent

As a Senior Technical Engineer, you will work closely with senior technical leadership to progress key work packages while remaining deeply involved in hands-on delivery. You will act as a trusted escalation point, lead by example, and ensure technical standards, security, and documentation are consistently applied across cloud, endpoint, networking, and identity solutions.

Main Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver high-impact technical projects from scoping to implementation
• Provide expert hands-on support for complex client environments
• Collaborate with Technical Director and Technical Manager to progress work packages
• Ensure solutions are secure-by-design and adhere to high technical standards
• Manage Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), and Intune policies
• Full MDM support for Apple iOS, iPadOS, and macOS devices
• Google Workspace administration, migrations, and security best practice
• Design, deploy, and troubleshoot LAN, WLAN, WAN, and VLAN networks
• Apply cybersecurity best practice across all solutions
• Identify and mitigate risks in client environments
• Act as a senior escalation point for engineers, providing guidance and mentoring
  Support engineers with complex issues and review solutions for quality and security
• Promote adoption of technical standards and documentation
• Produce and maintain clear technical documentation
• Create SOPs, design documents, and internal knowledge resources
• Ensure solutions are maintainable, repeatable, and well-documented
• Work directly with clients to understand requirements and deliver practical, secure solutions
• Attend customer sites as required for projects or troubleshooting
• Act as a trusted technical advisor for client stakeholders

 Skills and Experience Required

• Strong experience in Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, and Microsoft Intune
• Full lifecycle MDM experience for Apple iOS and macOS
• Google Workspace administration and migrations, including Education tenants
• Advanced PowerShell scripting capability
• Networking expertise: LAN, WLAN, WAN, VLAN design and configuration
• Excellent understanding of cybersecurity principles and secure solution design
• Significant experience in a senior technical engineering role, ideally within an MSP or services-led environment
• Proven ability to deliver complex technical projects end-to-end
• Strong customer-facing experience, including stakeholder-level engagement
