An excellent opportunity has arisen for an IT Support Engineer to join a friendly and well regarded school in Watford. This is a full time, onsite role offering a salary of up to £30,000, alongside 25 days holiday, free parking and lunch provided.
Working closely with the IT Manager, you will provide first and second line technical support to staff and pupils, helping to ensure that the school’s IT systems, devices and digital learning tools run smoothly every day.
This is a varied, hands on position suited to an organised and proactive IT support professional who enjoys troubleshooting issues, supporting users and getting involved in wider technology projects.
The role
You will be responsible for:
- Providing first and second line IT support across hardware, software, networks and AV equipment
- Diagnosing and resolving technical issues, escalating more complex matters where required
- Installing, configuring and maintaining PCs, laptops, printers, peripherals and software
- Supporting user account administration across school systems, learning platforms and online portals
- Maintaining accurate asset registers, software licences and IT support records
- Supporting the school’s network and infrastructure, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP and DNS
- Assisting with endpoint updates, security patches and device management
- Providing AV support for assemblies, meetings, examinations, staff training and school events
- Supporting educational software, classroom technology and digital learning resources
- Assisting with IT projects, deployments and ongoing improvements across the school
About you
To be considered, you will ideally have:
- Previous experience in an IT Support, IT Technician, IT Engineer or similar role
- Strong practical knowledge of Windows environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP and DNS
- A good understanding of networking fundamentals, TCP IP, VLANs and wireless connectivity
- Experience supporting hardware, software, printers, mobile devices and AV equipment
- Exposure to Apple macOS and mobile device management would be beneficial
- Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and a customer focused approach
- The ability to work well independently and as part of a small team
- A good understanding of data protection, cybersecurity and confidentiality
Experience working within a school or education environment would be advantageous, although strong IT support experience from another professional setting will also be considered.
