Are you an experienced IT professional ready to take the next step in your career? We’re seeking a skilled IT Manager to lead the local delivery and day-to-day management of IT services at a thriving educational institution in South East London.

IT Manager – South East London
£36,000 – £42,000 per annum + excellent benefits
Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, on-site, permanent

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping and supporting IT services that underpin both teaching and operational excellence. The role offers a 37.5 hour working week and an excellent benefits package, including an attractive Local Government Pension Scheme and ongoing professional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of on-site IT support and services, ensuring smooth daily operations across teaching, learning, and administration.

  • Manage and develop IT technicians, promoting a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

  • Oversee and maintain the IT infrastructure including networks, hardware, and software.

  • Deliver second-line support for complex technical issues and liaise with third-party providers where necessary.

  • Monitor system security, backups, and software licensing to ensure compliance and best practice.

  • Support users with effective training and guidance.

  • Contribute to strategic planning for IT refresh and development.

  • Ensure alignment with IT policies, SLAs, and data protection requirements.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Proven experience managing Windows Server environments and Active Directory.

  • Strong knowledge of networking, DNS/DHCP, Group Policy, and virtualisation.

  • Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.

  • Confident communication skills with technical and non-technical users alike.

  • Ability to lead a small IT team effectively.

  • Organised, proactive, and able to balance competing priorities.

Desirable:

  • Experience in a school or education environment.

  • Familiarity with ITIL principles.

  • Knowledge of cloud services (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS), MDM tools (e.g., Intune or Jamf), and Apple School Manager.
