Senior IT Engineer

We are recruiting an experienced Senior IT Engineer to provide onsite IT support within a busy education environment in Stevenage. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong second line engineer looking to take greater ownership of a site, support junior team members and work across a broad range of Microsoft, networking and infrastructure technologies.

Location: Stevenage, Hertfordshire
Employment Type: Full Time, Permanent
Salary: £40,000 to £42,000 depending on experience

About the role

As the senior technical resource onsite, you will provide first, second and initial third line IT support, resolve complex technical issues and ensure IT systems across the site remain reliable and secure.

You will also support local IT projects, maintain technical documentation and provide guidance to junior technicians.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first, second and initial third line technical support
  • Troubleshoot Windows, Microsoft 365, Active Directory and Group Policy issues
  • Support wired and wireless networks, switches, VLANs and WiFi
  • Manage Microsoft 365 including Exchange Online, SharePoint and Teams
  • Support device deployment using SCCM, MDT or Intune
  • Troubleshoot hardware, AV and infrastructure issues
  • Lead small onsite IT projects and technical changes
  • Mentor and support junior IT technicians
  • Maintain asset registers and technical documentation

About you

You will have strong first and second line IT support experience with exposure to third line technologies. You should be confident working independently and communicating with both technical and non technical users.

Experience with Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Group Policy, networking, Intune, SCCM, MDT, Veeam, VMware or Hyper V would be particularly valuable.

Previous experience supporting schools or education environments would be advantageous but is not essential.

An Enhanced DBS will be required for this position.
