An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced 3rd Line IT Support & Project Engineer to join an established and growing Managed Service Provider. Offering a salary of up to £47,000, mileage expenses for client visits and the opportunity to work across a broad range of infrastructure, cloud and networking projects, this is a strong role for someone who enjoys technical ownership and delivering a high standard of customer service.
£45,000 to £47,000 - South London / Surrey - Permanent, Full Time - Office Based
This is an office based position, working Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.30pm. You will spend the majority of your time in the office, with occasional travel to customer sites across the local area. A full UK driving licence and access to a car are essential.
The role
Working as a senior technical escalation point, you will support customers with complex infrastructure, networking and cloud issues, while also taking ownership of technical projects from planning through to delivery.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Acting as the final escalation point for complex support tickets and technical incidents
• Installing, configuring and troubleshooting switches, firewalls, wireless networks, VLANs, VPNs, routing and network security solutions
• Supporting Microsoft 365 environments including Intune, Azure and Entra ID
• Delivering infrastructure upgrades, cloud migrations and security focused projects
• Supporting Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, Hyper V and endpoint technologies
• Producing clear technical documentation and contributing to continuous service improvement
• Assisting with solution design, project scoping and occasional presales support
• Mentoring colleagues and sharing technical knowledge across the wider team
• Building strong relationships with customers and explaining technical issues clearly to non technical users
About you
You will have proven experience working within an MSP environment and will be confident taking ownership of technical issues, projects and customer communication.
You will ideally have:
• At least three years of experience within a Managed Service Provider environment
• Strong hands on networking experience across firewalls, switches and Wi Fi
• Solid Microsoft 365 experience including Intune, Azure and Entra ID
• Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, IP addressing, VLANs, routing, firewalling and VPNs
• Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy and Hyper V
• Exposure to RMM tools, scripting and automation, ideally including PowerShell
• Experience planning and delivering IT infrastructure projects
• Excellent communication skills and a confident, customer focused approach
• A positive attitude, strong problem solving skills and a willingness to learn new technologies
• A recognised networking qualification such as CCNA would be beneficial
Experience supporting education, charity or small to medium sized organisations would be advantageous, although this is not essential.
An Enhanced DBS check will be required for this position.
