A well-regarded secondary school in Aylesbury is seeking an experienced IT Network Manager to lead and develop its IT infrastructure, systems, cybersecurity and technical support services.
This is a great opportunity for a proactive IT professional who enjoys taking ownership of technology within a busy education environment. You will play a key role in ensuring the school’s IT systems are secure, reliable, resilient and able to support teaching, learning and day to day operations.
Location: Buckinghamshire
Salary: Up to £47.5k per annum, depending on experience
Hours: 37 hours per week, all year round
Contract: Permanent, full time
Benefits: 5 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays and access to a local government pension scheme with 22% employer contribution
The role
As IT Network Manager, you will oversee the school’s network, servers, cloud platforms, user access, cybersecurity controls, technical support and digital infrastructure.
You will work closely with senior leaders, manage a small team and support the continued improvement of IT services across the school.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the school’s IT infrastructure, networks, servers, cloud platforms and digital systems
- Lead on cybersecurity, including firewalls, endpoint protection, MFA, patching and monitoring
- Manage user accounts, permissions, identity lifecycle and access control
- Support MIS, website, VLE, intranet, communication systems and VoIP services
- Lead the IT support function and ensure issues are resolved effectively
- Provide advanced technical support across networks, servers, cloud services and specialist systems
- Oversee hardware and software deployment, licensing, asset management and lifecycle planning
- Manage backup, disaster recovery and business continuity processes
- Line manage a small team and ensure high standards of service delivery
- Support ICT procurement, supplier management and digital improvement projects
About you
You will be a confident IT professional with experience managing networks, servers, cloud platforms and technical support services.
You may currently be working as an IT Manager, Network Manager, ICT Manager, IT Systems Manager, School Network Manager, Infrastructure Manager or Senior IT Engineer looking for the next step.
Experience within education would be highly beneficial, although candidates from similar people focused environments will also be considered.
Essential experience and skills
- Experience managing IT networks, servers and cloud platforms
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure and cybersecurity best practice
- Experience supporting MIS systems such as SIMS, Arbor or Bromcom
- Experience leading IT projects or technical improvements
- Experience managing or supervising staff
- Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues
- Strong communication skills with technical and non technical users
- Ability to manage priorities in a busy environment
